William “Bill” Sorenson, 82, of Bemidji, MN died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Northern Town Hall, Bemidji with Rev. Randy McGuire officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home.
William Axel Sorenson was born March 7, 1934 in Bemidji, MN to Axel and Tomine (Stenskog) Sorenson. He grew up and attended school in Bemidji. Bill married his first wife, Patricia and had seven children. He left Bemidji and worked for Xcel Energy in Riverside. Following his divorce, he continued to work for Xcel Energy in Becker. In 1982 he married his wife of 34 years, Janice. They lived in Clear Lake and Princeton. When Janice and Bill retired from their jobs, they moved to Bemidji where they resided until Bill’s death. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and going to the casino.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Sorenson of Bemidji; daughters, Cindy Urista, Peggy (Terry) Parks, Mary Sue Moore, Diane Tyler and Janet Flagg; sons, Bill (Sue) Sorenson and Don (Kim) Sorenson; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom Sorenson and Dale Sorenson and sister, Kathy (Dale) Sommers. Bill was especially close to his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Debbie & Chip Jespersen and special nieces, Jenna (Kevin) Brown and Emily (Brian) Anderson and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sally Weise.
